Energy Minister tasks GNPC, Explorco to lead drive against declining oil production

Energy Minister John Abdulai Jinapor has directed the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) and its subsidiary, GNPC Explorco, to step up exploration efforts and lead the national response to Ghana’s declining oil production.

The Minister issued the call during a working visit to the two institutions as part of his ongoing tour of agencies under the Ministry of Energy.

He said the corporations must take a central role in opening new fields, expanding the country’s hydrocarbon reserves, and safeguarding long-term energy security.

During the visit, GNPC Chief Executive Officer Kwame Ntow Amoah and GNPC Explorco CEO Sam Arthur reaffirmed their commitment to pursue the mandate. They outlined plans to strengthen technical capacity, deepen collaborations, and leverage modern technology to enhance exploration activities.The Minister assured GNPC and Explorco of continued government support as they work toward building a strong, competitive national oil company capable of driving growth in Ghana’s energy sector.
